About

Apuntes is directed to a Latino audience. Our goal is to provide content that is relevant, appealing, and intellectually satisfying while maintaining the highest standard of editorial excellence.

Latinos hold prominent positions in academia, art, business and politics. We are astronauts, engineers, scientists, writers, musicians and Hollywood celebrities. We excel in sports, have successful businesses and teach at top universities and research centers. We hold government offices at the local, state and federal levels, and have a Latina Supreme Court Justice. And we may not be far from the Oval Office.

That is the Latino world that Apuntes seeks to document, a world of dreams and ideas, of hard work and sacrifice, where our talent and intelligence shines through. Ours is a diverse community that speaks with many voices, and Apuntes seeks to reflect that pluralism and complexity.

Mission Statement

  • Promote unity and celebrate diversity among Latinos in the United States
  • Highlight Latino struggles and accomplishments
  • Provide a forum for Latinos to share their experiences, dreams and ideas

  • Quote of the Day

“One dies slowly who becomes a slave to habits, takes no chances, avoids passion, does not risk uncertainty . . . who quits before getting started, complains about bad luck, doesn’t travel or read or dream, does not trust, does not dare try, does not love . . . the opposite is to be alive.”

    - Pablo Neruda
