Bitter Wine, a Comic by Liz Mayorga
About the Artist |
|
Liz Mayorga grew up in Los Angeles, California and México. She comes from a family of cooks and artists, who would work more than 12 hours a day, and would relish their time off with quality entertainment – be it music or film. Liz grew up savoring every bit of Popular Culture from both sides of the border. Yet, she also had an affinity for books, especially those with cool pictures in them, because those books inspired her to revamp the films she liked, using nothing more than paper and pen. She naturally transitioned into creating comics. Her work draws from personal experiences as well as cultural history. |
Liz graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a degree in English, and from California College of the Arts with a Master of Fine Arts in Writing. She lives in San Francisco and is an organizer for the San Francisco Zine Fest. Her work has been featured in Atom magazine and the McNair Journal. |
The following is a preview from Liz Mayorga’s zine Bitter Wine. Below, Mayorga ties her obsession with horror films and music videos to present a portrait of loneliness.
